English

Splendid colours adorn Xian Le, a prosperous tale told through the ages
A youth adorned in white descends like a bird from the skies
Petals swirl with the wind; a beautiful visage revealed, bright as a lonesome star
Traditions swept aside; a flash, brief like a reflection on the water’s surface

Hidden in the depths of night, countless watchful eyes glow green
Silver butterflies flutter like an endless starry sky
In that moment, a voice, a shadow is pursued along overgrown mountain paths
Crystalline moonlight illuminates you
Walking alone on a treacherous road

Blossoming trees and billowing clouds of fortune; blades clash on Yi Nian Bridge
A flower held gently, turned towards the heavenly court; lightning flashes, thunder roars
Yet the white steed flits across crevices*; time flows, everything changes
Salvation for the common people; one flower, one sword, one wish for blessings upon the world remain

Rumours be, even Tai Cang Mountain cannot salvage the long-lived country
Broken walls topple; unforgiving winds sweep through a crumbling city
Gone is past grandeur, replaced by diseased faces and the wounds of war
Yet, shrouded in threads of mystery, a nameless one shines true

Atop Yi Nian Bridge*, dark clouds overshadow the blossoming trees; rain showers cleanse white flowers
Time flows on, a dappled illusion, chasing a paradise
Storms recede, revealing clear skies above
Powerless against one flower, one sword, one person’s bamboo hat amidst the rain

Yearning for those blossoming trees, yearning for you; gazing upon the distance waiting for a word
Let the world laugh at me; up in the mountains, I keep my prayers alive
We did not speak of where we will go, reminiscing about the beautiful sights that once were
Once the fiery tribulations are over, I shall simply accompany you, one flower, one sword in hand

We will walk this earth, wishing only that our paired silhouette will never part

Translation Notes

*white steed…crevices: this saying refers to time passing by very quickly

*Yi Nian Bridge: for this verse, I’m not actually sure if this is referencing the bridge or if it’s just meant to be
“thinking of” (念想 etc.)
